10 items or less is a 2006 comedy starring Morgan Freeman and Paz Vega.Morgan Freeman plays the role of himself ie a 40 year old hollywood actor.He walks in to a supermarket one morning after a young man drove him off there promising to return after one hour.He finds a smart clerk working there sincerely.Her name is Scarlet (Paz Vega).She was multitasking and compensating the other lazy workers in the department store.Her store department was called "10 items or less".She was very energetic and was counting well in her mind without using the dumb billing machine and was doing all the things well.He befriended her and observed her.He was there for a research in a future movie project he was yet to commit.
So after she was gonna leave after her hectic job shift, he was lost.The young kid with the van never came back for Freeman.So she offered him coins for payphone since he forgot his cell phone.He called his managers and assistants but got the answer that everybody was away due to a jewish holiday the next day.Now Morgan Freeman tells that he don't know his own number since numbers keeps changing every week due to security reasons.
So he decided to hang out with the 25 some thing young girl because she offered to drove him home.She told him that he was a soft target and he would get killed if went alone in the city.They both went to her ex-husband's (yet to be divorced) house.In the apartment she fight with a girl and her ex for the possession of her car and money.The girl in the apartment was sleeping with her ex and was pregnant.While droving back, she deliberaty crashed her car on the luxury car of the girl.
Now she tells Freeman that she got a job interview as a Secretary and she says her billing clerk job sucks.Morgan inspired her and offers to help her in her job interview preparation.They both go to a shopping mall and get good clothes for her and some makeups also.He pays for all that using Diners Club.
Now Freeman tells Scarlet that he was also bored with his job and that he was out of films for last four years and was not sure to commit for the project in waiting.He gives confidence to the girl since he saw a glimplse of him in her.They go to a car wash and get the old and dirty car washed.And they goes to the interview.The girl performs well at the interview and feels confident that she was going to make it.She tells Freeman that she was never going back to the Archies Shopping Ranch's 10 items or less store.
Morgan and Scarlet have fun during the way back home.He made the girl ask for directions which she hates while driving.Scarlet and Freeman sings a Spanish song which Scarlet , the spanish origin girl teaches him.He instead teaches her english songs and they both talk in Brittish English for fun.And then they reach Morgan's house.Before getting out of the car, Freeman tells her that even though they both may never meet in the future , every thing will be alright and that he was going to commit for the film.
10 items or less is a good time pass movie, not much comedy but an ok film.just you can pass time with that.Good for kids also except for the strong languages used.
