21 is an american movie about the extra ordinary events happening during the campus life of an MIT graduate.The story line is based on the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team.A bunch of MIT students play black jack at casinos and make money using pure mathematical techniques.
The hero of this movie is Ben Campbell (Jim Sturgess) who is an excellent kid doing his Senior Math Major in MIT.He got an MCAT score of 44 and GPA of 4.0 and was on the brink of getting admitted to the Harward Medical School which was his ambition in life.All that stands against him is the $300000.He got a day job, his studies and his private research an a robotic project for the 209 Contest with his two friends.His application for the Robinson Scholarship has to stand out with other genius guys for him to get it.
His genius in maths is noted by his Professor Micky Rosa (Kevin Spacey).Micky introduces him to his team of intelligent students who professionally play BlackJack at weekends at Vegas.Using card counting , math and team work the team used to cheat the houses.Micky bags 50 percent of the earnings.The team posing as individual players use code language and gestures to communicate with each other.Using a scientific method, they make money by beating the house.Ben excels in the team and makes a fortune.
Money, girls and excellent life style gives a life full of experience to Ben.Now all's well untill one day his emotions play over and he ignore the signal to get out from the play and lose some money.Micky asks for damages and gets angry with him.Frustrated with Micky, he convinces the team to now do it alone without Micky's guidence.And Micky comes hard on him.
There are now dramatic moments when Ben loses everything he had in his life, his degree, the money, his future, his project work he made along with his friends everything.But the movie is about how he overcomes his troubles and get back to his ambitions in style.
The criticism i have about 21 is that it teaches your kids to make money the bad way.It might inspire more people to know about Black Jack and start card counting.
