The main character is this movie is Jason Tripitikas(played by Michael Angarano).He is an american teen staying in South Boston obsessed with Chinese martial arts and chinese action movies.This 21st century american guy gets to travel to the mystical ancient era in the FORBIDDEN KINGDOM.There he is destined to do something that only he can do.He is the chosen one for an act people in the kingdom waits for.
FORBIDDEN KINGDOM was shot on different picturesque locations in China.The movie is perhaps the only movie that has features the two martial arts movie giants Jackie Chan (THe guy in Rush Hour and Drunken Master) and Jet Li (Fearless and Once Upon a Time in China).So fast kungfu action sequences is guaranteed.Now what if the action choreographer Wo Ping who did The Matrix and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon joins this team.
The acting of the kid Michael as jason was awesome.He is the guy we had seen in Will and Grace, lords of Dogtown and Sea Biscuit.His room is shown full of posters of Kungfu stars like Bruce Lee.He visits a pawnshop in Chinatown usually for bootleg kungfy DVDs and that results in him making an special journey to a hut in ancient China.There he is awaited with a destined task in free the legendary warrior Monkey King, imprisoned by the cruel warlord Jade.
Jason gets rescued time and again from the soldiers by his wise kungfu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a group of kungfu students (some kids) and the Silent Monk (Jet Li).Jason learns Kungfu with difficulty from his master Lu Yan and fights with the Warloard and frees the Monkey King.That is the story and he get backs to his present life in great style after learning the martial arts.A China town girl (Golden Sparrow) was also in his extraordinary journey.As she cannot travel back to modern era, the story teller has killed her in the movie and shows a similiar girl back in Boston with the same looks (a hint of incarnation).Jet Li plays the role of Monkey King also.
Any way it is a nice movie to watch.Do not let your common sense to judge the logics in the movie.Watch it with a free mind like the kids.
