The Horsemen is an american thriller released in March 2009.It is on DVD now.Dennis Quaid and Zhang Ziyi features in noticable roles in this movie.It is a horror, crime movie with a biblical background.The movie makers have used less blood and made the tempo well in the start and after the middle of the movie, it loses steam.The villian can be guessed after 20 minutes but movie ends in the way and beats the way you are guessing.
Aidan Breslin (Dennis Quaid) is a detective after a group of four serial killers who are leading him to something through each murder.They points to him about the four horsemen in the Bible and keeps him about the murder and their motives untill one day he finds that the whole case revolves around him.
Breslin acts as a dedicated cop always on duty and investigation.He lost his wife recently and he does not mingle well with his kids.The two boys live without much interaction with him as he is always exhausted and keep working for hours.He always wears a dull look and uncombed hair.Breslin got a loyal deputy whose neck is ironically slit by the villian in the end.
Kristen (Zhang Ziyi) does play a foolish role of a killer who murdered her adopted mother in vengence of sexual abuse for a period of ten years from her adopted Father.Her serious act is going to feel comical in most of the scenes.
While the audience gets clueless about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalyspe, the movie ends with an abrupt end which makes people feel vaccum.The interrogation of Breslin with the persons feels that he fall short of a good cop.He is shown incapable of eliciting information out of his Kristen during interrogation.We lose out of vilians as dead bodies of them are obtained.
The movie points to every one that adopted kids are not safe and it hopes to convey that america's families that their houses are burning affecting the kids looking helplessly at it.This movie is good for killing time and not an excellent idea if you want to watch a nice thrilling movie.The last scenes ofcourse another show of act of death but this time Breslin is crying out tied to a chair witnessing it and unable to stop the death.it doesn't say whether the villian surives or not.All we guess is that he survived some loss of blood and might be in jail.All that happens after the movie is that Breslin is a changed man planning to spend more time with his kid and truly love him.
