Zatoichi is a Japanese samurai action packed film dubbed to english.This movie is the big screen adaptation of the famous television series in the same name.All the action sequences are filled with blood and computer generated flow of blood.Zatoichi (Takeshi Kitano) is the star of the movie.He acts as a blind warrier called massier in the movie.His walking stick can be split in to a sword when needed.He is a wanderer and he visits a town ruled by Yakuza gangs and gangwars.He becomes the saviour for the people shelling out protection money for survival.Eventhough he is blind, his senses are sharp and nobody can defeat him.
The story is very simple.Zatoichi befriends a farmer lady Michiyo Ookusu (Aunt Oume) and stays with her helping her.He also befriends her nephew a gambler at a casino.Due to his sharper senses , the blind man wins all the time in the game.Two geisha girls (one is a man) also reaches the house and the girl and the boy are to avenge for the death of their parents.
Zatoichi joins them in their endeveour and finishes them off.He confronts the skilled samurai ronin, who happens to be the body guard of the Yakuza.In the end of the movie everybody parties while it is revealed that Zatoichi was not blind and it was just a ploy to keep his senses sharper.
This is a waste movie having not much entertainment value , just action and blood flowing all around.Not recommended for kids.Not much comedy here.A young man dressed as a red indian cheers us in the movie and the scene where zatoichi massages Michiyo is also humourous.
